Amal Cloud Supports SCR !!

“Could new data laws end up bankrupting your company?”

Abdul Hafiz Ibrahim of Amal Cloud was on the Sufiya Rehman show here at Salford City Radio to speak about the topic of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

GDPR is a EU regulation that was passed as law in 2016, and the two year period for everyone to become compliant ends in May 2018, at which point the law becomes enforceable.

The legislation applies to any company in the EU and UK that holds personal data, including data on employees and suppliers, not just customers, which is basically everyone.

Maximum fines for non-compliance (such as data breaches, lack of GDPR documentation or processes to implement extended accountability to data owners) are 20 million euros or 4% of global turnover, whichever is greater.

GDPR also opens the door for each person whose data you compromise to take you to court for damages, as well as criminal charges against directors.

Because of the criminal offence element, you can't cover GDPR fines using any kind of insurance.
